A Celestial Journey: Min-Woo Bang meets Le Gallerie

The Sofitel Brisbane Central is delighted to present an exquisite exhibition of works by Min-Woo Bang, an acclaimed artist whose passion for capturing the ephemeral beauty of the sky is sure to leave you mesmerised. For over 30 years, Bang has made Sydney his home, but it’s the blue skies and ethereal cloud formations that have become his artistic signature.

Each of Bang’s paintings is a breathtaking tribute to the majesty of nature. His process begins with extensive field trips where he captures hundreds of photographs of the sky, gathering inspiration from the way light, colour, and form come together in fleeting moments. Reflecting on his creative vision, Bang explains, “Clouds, with their ethereal beauty and transient presence, mirror the ephemeral essence of life itself.”

Bang’s artistic style brings a fresh narrative to classical European landscape traditions, while also emphasising his distinct interpretation of nature. His paintings begin with broad fields of colour that gradually transform into luminous skies and cloud formations, drawing viewers in with their depth and complexity. His compositions are designed to direct the gaze toward the sky, subtly incorporating landscape elements to further highlight the vastness and mystery of what lies above.

With a focus on light, movement, and the transience of nature, Bang’s works invite viewers to pause and reflect. There is a timeless quality to his pieces—each one capturing the fleeting, ever-changing nature of clouds. His canvases offer a serene yet powerful reminder of the beauty that exists all around us, even in the simplest of moments.

Min-Woo Bang’s works have earned him recognition across Australia, where he has been a finalist in prestigious art prizes such as the Tattersall’s Landscape Prize, Wynne Prize, Muswellbrook Art Prize, NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize, Mosman Prize, Paddington Art Prize, and Gold Coast Art Prize.
